The 5th installment of the EU's international forum for development cooperation gave special attention to global health issues, from achieiving the Millennium Development Goals to combating the illicit trade in fake medicines. - A range of speakers focused on the obstacles to achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Underlying the need for EU action, Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development reminded participants that 20 million people die annually due to inadequate health care.
The Fight Against Fake Medicine - Report On The State Of Governance
"Fake medicine a scourge on society by a silent killer"
- Describing the trade in fake medicine as "a real scourge", Thomas Boni Yayi, the President of Benin hailed former French President, Jacques Chirac as "a guiding light" in the fight against fake medicine.
