In a school hall in rural England a group of enthusiasts have arranged a showing of this film by Franny Armstrong about the climate change, which is released through local events rather than mainstream cinemas. The meeting provides a microcosm of what it takes to connect a global issue to local and personal action.
Some 300 people stay on to discuss what they can do personally and as a community to reduce their carbon footprint. Some sign up to the 1010 campaign to reduce their footprint by 10% in “2010”, others agree to approach the local council to join “Transition Towns” and a group decide to attend the “The Wave” protest in London to stop climate change chaos. This connection of the global to local provides lessons for global health governance.
